5 Healthy Recipes That Your kids Can Help to Prepare

During the office days, we get so tired that we don’t want to spend more time in doing anything. When it comes to the kitchen, either we think of dinner outside, or we depend on others who can cook for us. Eating every weekend can be costly as well as unhygienic for kids and us.

There are plenty of things that anyone in the house can prepare, even your kids too. This year lets kids come up and let them cook for you or help you in a while cooking. They might not be perfect in cooking, but if they start now, in a few years, they will be able to make some of the dishes on their own.

Here are a few healthy dishes that help anyone in your home to prepare for you. 

Vegetable Soups –

Mix Vegetable soup is healthy and delicious, and it takes only 15-20 minutes to prepare. We should not use vegetables that are precut but in this case, we can use as in winters vegetables are hard to peel and cut again and again. Second, it is much easy for older kids as well to cook if this step is already done.

Tips and easy steps to prepare vegetable soup-

Start with the veggies; grind all seasonal vegetables like sweet potato, celery, cauliflower, etc. Mix all veggies with olive oil and salt into it.

Add two tablespoon of cornstarch into a bowl with three tablespoon water and mix it well.

Heat 2 tablespoon olive oil in a pan, and then add chopped onion and garlic, deep fry it.

Add all chopped veggies into this and boil them for 3-4 min.

Add black pepper and then add cornstarch mixture and stir it continuously for 2 minutes to prevent lump formation.

Stir and cook it well until it turns thick. After 7 to 8 minutes, add vinegar for a tangy flavor.

Now your soup is ready to serve. Taste the soup to check seasonings at this stage and add more if required.

Baked Sweet Potatoes –

Baked Sweet potatoes are a smooth and flavorful dish. It only required four steps to poke, cook mash, and eat. Kids are most likely to do the fork-poking type jobs even they love to do it because they find fun in it.

Tips and easy steps to prepare baked sweet potatoes –

Put sweet potatoes in baking pan and using knife or fork poke them on veggies to make a tiny whole.

Turn the oven temperature to 425 degrees; once it’s reached, keep the baking plate of veggies in the oven and bake until tender up to approx. — 1 hour.

Slice each potato carefully, mix the butter and salt among the sweet potatoes, and mash the seasoning with a fork. 

Roasted Vegetables –

As kids are younger, we cannot make them fully involved in cooking, but we can take some help from them like one can do the chopping, one can wash veggies, and one can mix vegetables, etc. This way, they can part in cooking meals.

Tips and easy steps to prepare roasted vegetables-

Roasted vegetables are one of the best ideas of cooking for kids who don’t like vegetables.

Get ready with your oven. Chop all seasonal vegetables. Set the heat of your oven to 400 degrees.

Take a chopped onion, sweet pepper, garlic, Courgette, summer squash, olive oil, salt, and black pepper mix it well in a bowl.

Pour the chopped vegetables into a baking sheet by keeping in mind that all plants are in a single layer to make them bake well. Once the oven temperature is reached to 400 degrees, put the baking sheet in the oven and bake it for 30 minutes.

Remove the baking sheet from the oven, put it on the stove and add some tomatoes. Stir it well and make sure that everything is well mixed.

Put back the baking sheet into the oven and cook until the veggies are turned into light brown color.

Now the roasted veggies are ready. Serve them into a bowl and enjoy with your kids. 

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie –

I also have a kid, he likes pushing the button and watching the blender making the noise; however, some kids are afraid of such noise. Your kids can help to measure the ingredients and put them all together in the blender. It only takes 10 minutes to prepare.

Tips and easy steps to prepare pumpkin pie smoothie-

All we need for this is low-fat milk, orange juice, low-fat yogurt, canned pumpkin puree, ripped banana, nutmeg or cinnamon, vanilla extract, ice cubes. Take all ingredients according to the number of the person you want to make it for and according to your taste.

Keep all ingredients in the blender. Hold the cap of blender tightly. Start the mixer with the medium first and then speed up slowly. Blend till the ice is appropriately chopped and the mixture is smooth within 30 to 60 seconds.

Flavored Oatmeal with Garlic Greens and Bacon –

If your kids are of middle age, then oats are the best meal they can have anytime and anywhere.

Tips and easy steps to prepare pumpkin pie smoothie-

For this, we require water, milk, salt, oats, slices of bacon, sliced mushrooms, garlic, minced, cloves, and olive oil.

Boil water, milk, and salt in a saucepan, then add oats and stir it. Cook this uncovered for 25 minutes and reduced the heat to medium. Stir the mixture in between few times but not too much to prevent oats from gummy.

In between, cook the bacon in batches in an iron plate. Cook it until the pieces get crispy. Take out some bacon leaving two back into the iron plate and add mushroom into it. Cook until greens are wilted.

Assemble each bowl with greens, mushrooms, and bacon.
