This season, it has been rather simple to understand the New England Patriots. The Pats have both defeated and fallen to inferior opponents.

Fortunately for New England, they play the Arizona Cardinals on "Monday Night Football," who are a below-average squad.

The six victories for New England came against groups that had a combined record of 26-34-1. The teams the Patriots have lost against have a combined record of 43-32.

The Jets are the only team this season that the Pats have defeated that has a winning record (twice).

The Cardinals, who are 4-8, fit the bill as a team that Bill Belichick's group has dominated this season. The Cardinals are no longer in contention for the NFC playoffs.

However, there are also rumours of internal problems, such as players not liking Kyler Murray at quarterback and head coach Kliff Kingsbury perhaps resigning after the season.

Arizona enters with a record of 1-4 in its previous five games, with its lone victory coming against the Rams. Despite not having the best talent in the league.

Against a Cardinals defence that ranks 31st in scoring defence and 24th in pass defence, New England's much-maligned attack should also have some success.

Given that Belichick does an excellent job of getting his teams ready after playing poorly, I'm not surprised to see New England listed as short road favourites in this situation.
The Pats are 12-2 ATS in their previous 14 games after suffering a significant home loss. That pattern will probably continue.
